HUNTINGTON -- RESA II held the Academic Games
Tournament at the Huntington Civic Center and Wayne
County Schools had five students qualify for the
National Tournament.
Wayne, Mason, Lincoln, Logan and Mingo Counties
brought a total of 140 students to participate in the
games.
Here are the students who received prizes from Wayne
County:
Emily Fleming, Spring Valley High School
Taylor Spry, Fort Gay Elementary
Carly Christian, C-K Middle
Jared Mounts, Buffalo Middle
Erin Wroblewski, Vinson Middle.
The students participated in five games: Equations
(Math); LinguiSHTIK (Language Arts); Mr. Presidents
(Social Studies); Current Events (Social Studies) and
World War I (Social Studies).
The games were played throughout the day and
challenged students in various academic challenges. For

Red Dawson and Terry Smith from RESA II opened the
games Friday. The awards ceremony was presented by Eddy
Pendarvis, the director of gifted education at Marshall
University.
The national tournament will be April 20-23 in
Wheeling. The tournament moves to different states each
year, and this is West Virginia's year to host.
